Christopher Walken Overdrive (also known as [[CWO]]) was an alternative metal band from Fargo, ND. Initially conceived August 27, 2004 at Foxes in Moorhead, MN by [[Ryan Haugland]], [[Fred Frenzel]] and [[Donovan Stewart]], CWO officially formed in the Fall of 2004. Founding drummer [[Ryan Haugland]] ([[Sub Rosa]]), played a single show before moving to Lawrence, KS. Second drummer [[Patrick Meyers]] ([[Snake Handler]]) played with the group for the next year, but moved to Austin, TX in the Fall of 2005. Penultimate percussionist James Riccigliano ([[Unlern]]) joined Spring 2006 and exited the band October 15th, 2007. Aaron Bedford was selected as the fourth and final drummer on November 19, 2007. On December 27th lead guitarist Shane Bertrand quit briefly, but rejoined in January, 2008 and played a handful of shows that year until moving to New York. After months of inactivity the group reformed as a quartet, wrote some new songs and played a few more gigs. They played their final show January 30th, 2009 at the Aquarium.

Highlights

  • Music video filmed in Moorhead MN, April 2005 for CWO version of "Careless Whisper" a song originally by George Michael of 80s pop group WHAM! Filmed at Weld Hall on the MSUM campus and Ralph's Corner.
  • Competed in a Battle of the Bands in Detroit Lakes Summer 2005 for a chance to play the 10,000 Lakes Festival, a huge jam-band fest. Lost to The Dromedary Persuassion, who eventually lost to JedEyeMindFunk.
  • Competed in Rock Roots 5000 in 2006 on Q98 for a chance to open for Powerman 5000. Made it to the top four out of 12 bands. Lost in the finals to Obsidian who went on the win the contest.

  • Competed in Q98 Battle of the Bands '07. Played in the finals in a four-way battle with Rock Bottom, Fallback, Venus in Furs. Rock Bottom won.
