I sit down with a lot of individuals in my office at our holistic center and discuss with them the form of foods that they ingest. The trouble that I most times run into is when they assume that they are consuming healthy things but they really are not. One of the most common errors is the nutritional bar. The nutritional bar is growing in popularity as individuals effort to make healthy choices. As the approval for more health conscious snacks grows, many company's are flooding the marketplace with their versions of a nutritional bar. The problem is that these so called nutritional bars are not healthy.

They are actually candy bars in disguise!

The Nutritional Bar Is The New Candy Bar

There are more junk food candy bars disguised as a nutritional bar than there are authentic nutritional bars. Knowing this information alone will help you make better decisions.

If you are are in the nutritional bar section of the store and there are ten bars to pick from, most likely only one, maybe two out of the ten bars are absolutely healthy!

Helping You Select A Real Nutritional Bar

Nutritional Bar Deception #1: There is no rule, regulation or law attached to the word "Natural"; it really means nothing when it comes to making healthy decisions.

You can take a soda and put it in a green recycled can and call it natural soda. Don't pay attention to the word "all natural". It will get you in trouble most of the time.

Nutritional Bar Deception #2: Don't pay attention to the packaging. A lot of businesses will package their products nicely with pictures of nuts and healthy things on their package but this means nothing as well. The most appealing packaging is commonly the most deceptive products.

A real nutritional bar has easy packaging most of the time.

Nutritional Bar Deception #3: Don't be deceived by the word "Organic". This means nothing as well. Although an organic product is safer than a bar made from GMO ingredients, it does not mean that the product is healthy. You will often see a percentage of organic items on the label; "70% Organic". The other 30% are food ingredients that lessen vitality of the product in a majority of cases.

Nutritional Bar Deception #4: Don't pay much attention to the nutritional value label. Many junk foods disguised as a nutritional bar utilize this area to blind you into thinking you are getting something nutritious. The average person is going to eat an whole bar when they open it but establishments will make it a two and three serving nutritional label which means that in order to get an detailed measurement you have to double and sometimes triple what you see on the label.

Choosing A Real Nutritional Bar

The only way to pick a real nutritional bar is by reading the ingredients list. It should organic whole foods in the list and there shouldn't be artificial flavorings or coloring. You should also be able to recognize all of the ingredients.

It should not contain; sugar, evaporated cane juice, cane syrup, brown sugar, fructose, high fructose corn syrup, or chemical sweeteners. It should be sweetened with all natural ingredients such as; honey, Agave Nectar, Stevia, Raisins, Dates, Fruits or Fruit Juices, etc.

Here is the label for one of the most popular nutritional bar products on the marketplace. Unsuitably it is a junk food candy bar disguised as a nutritional bar. Read the ingredients list:

The only essential thing you are searching for on this entire box and labeling is the ingredients list:
