I can not answer this question for you. But what I can do is provide material and insight from my own experience so that you can make a well informed selection on your own.

I had a very healthy and successful vegan pregnancy. My beautiful baby girl who is now 2 1/2 yrs old. There was no doubt in my mind that this is what I needed to do. If you were to ask me whether a vegan pregnancy is risk-free or doable I would say ABSOLUTELY!

Not Everyone Should Have A Vegan Pregnancy

A large percentage people can concede that consuming a vegan diet is very healthy.

A vegan diet is a plant based diet that consists of vegetables, nuts, seeds grains and legumes.

It is brimming with nutrients such as fiber, water and nutrients. Some other benefits of consuming a plant based diet is weight loss, cardiovascular health, slowing of the aging process, saving the environment and animal compassion.

With all of these benefits it's still not a surprise that a plant based diet is still a fairly unattractive choice for most people. Unsuitably the masses of people eat the standard american diet (S.A.D.) which is a diet that is composed of of highly processed, denatured foods that contain little nutritional value such as fiber, water, vitamins or minerals.

Theses foods typically are excessive in fat and cholesterol.

So with all of the benefits of consuming a plant based diet why is a vegan pregnancy not safe for everyone?

Healthy Vegan vs Unhealthy Vegan

You may be asking is there any such thing as an unhealthy vegan?

Unfortunately there is. But it is not because what most people think.Lack Of Protein! Lack of protein is not why some vegans are unhealthy.

I have been vegan for over ten years. In the earlier years for me vegan pregnancythere really weren't numerous food choices when you went out to eat. Also, there were hardly any food choices in the supermarket.

I had to cook a lot of my own foods, and genuinely this was a vital plus and is when I commenced to hone my culinary skills because prior to eating a plant based diet I could scarcely cook anything or I should say I did not prepare anything!

Fast forward to now and you see that the industry has outfitted the demand for more plant based restaurants and food options. There are a lot of awesome restaurants and food choices in the supermarkets, but there are also a lot of bad ones as well.

Unsuitably the bad ones is what is causing a lot of unhealthy vegans.

There are a ton of packaged vegan products that have been produced to tap into the vegan population. They know that health conscious people will pay anything when it comes to their health and they have capitalized on this.

A lot of these packaged foods are laced with harmful additives such as MSG, natural flavors, food coloring, additives, and many other chemicals that are not digestible by the human body.

Eating a high percentage of these highly denatured processed foods will lead you directly on a path of being an unhealthy vegan.

Vegan Pregnancy

So to sum it all up a vegan pregnancy is risk-free and it is doable if you adhere to these few suggestions:

1) Ingest a clean diet which mostly is composed of of whole foods (Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, Legumes). Do away with or drastically reduce your intake of processed foods.

2) Work with a Naturopath or Holistic Nutritionist who can make sure you are getting the proper nutrients from suitable sources and the appropriate supplementation.(Do not try to become a nutritionist over night.get assistance if needed)

3) Prepare your body as far ahead as you can before you conceive. By detoxing, addressing any deficiencies and eating a healthy diet.(This should be done for any pregnancy)

4) Read empowering stories of women who have had blossoming vegan pregnancies such as myself. Uncover that women all over the world have done and continue to do this on a daily basis. It's all about mindset.
