If you are over 33 years old, you have had the opportunity to be subjected to classic hip hop and classic Kung Fu flicks (in the hip hop culture we call Kung Fu Movies Kung Fu Flicks) via Saturday Kung Fu Theater. Before my passion and love for hip hop I had a passion and love for Kung Fu movies.

Every Saturday I was fixed to the edge of my bed watching the Kung Fu flick of the day; especially the double features. As I grew older and the genre of hip hop music (rap) grew, a deep passion for the music grew inside of me along side of Kung Fu flicks. It was so refreshing to be apart of both!

The Man With The Iron Fist: Prequel

When I was a senior in High School a new rap crew/group came to the forefront that for ever altered hip hop: The Wu Tang Clang! The mastermind behind The Wu Tang Clang was the Rza. He instantly came to the forefront as one of the greatest hip hop producers of all times. He victoriously blended the world of Kung Fu flicks into rap music. Hip Hop instrumentals in unison with classic Asian Kung Fu movie soundtrack samples. He used latest quotes from classic martial arts movies as skits to their album. They even took on names of famous characters in movies. The Wu Tang Clan conjoined the best of both worlds; AMAZING!

The Man With The Iron Fists: Present Day

After 20 years of success in the entertainment field the Rza of The Wu Tang clan has released his move The Man With The Iron Fists. The Man With The Iron Fists was as a matter of fact 20 years in the making. Over the past 20 years you have seen Rza produce as a rap artist, a music producer and we got a taste when he wrote, produced and directed a Kung Fu video for his solo album. The potential of The Man With The Iron Fists was birthed when Rza joined with movie producing guru Quenton Tarantino. Rza began doing the score and soundtracks for his movies.

Becoming good friends with Tarantino, Rza began looking over his shoulder and studying the ways of a film producer as if he was studying the ways of a Kung Fu master in a temple. After being displayed in multiple movies and sharpening his skills

It was only a mater of time before Quenton Tarantino assisted Rza to get his first movie break!

The Man With The Iron Fists Is Born!

There are no spoilers here; you have to monitor it out for yourself. The Rza wrote, directed and co-stared in his debut do it all movie; The Man With The Iron Fists.

Recreating how he merged Kung Fu movies into hip hop back in the early 90's, Rza has victoriously bound rap music into a martial arts movie. I was sitting in the movie theater nodding my head rhythmically to hip hop beats while watching Rza's vision came to life.

The Man With The Iron Fist

Rza studied all the classic martial arts films and added all the elements of a classic Kung Flu flicks including the evil white haired villain!

The Man With The Iron Fists

He creatively worked in the all star actor Russell Crowe as an Frenchman who played an immense role and encouraged to carry the movie.

Lucy Liu delivered a classic performance in epic proportions. I definitely wasn't expecting the twist she brought to the film.

Over all I am really pleased of Rza for the work he did and I am elated for him. He did an tremendous job at paying tribute to his cherished martial arts movies while adding on to the legacy with new ideas and new twists. There are a lot of people hating on Rza and the flick but I say; give the man a break, it's his first flick! It can only get better from here.

Rza SALUTE!
