Fugitive Grey formed after Fred decided to buy a bass guitar. He had been a long-time Metallica fan and had just discovered Cliff Burton. He was already a big fan of Jason Newstad, but Cliff's impressive abilities forced him to pursue what has become a very integral passion and key to Fugitive Grey's sound.

Jeremy Stoneburner, a friend and co-worker, had been plotting to form a band since he met Pat Lipsiea, the son of their employer, who played guitar and had a friend that was credited with being one of the better drummers in the area, James Hastings.
