About
http://www.mindspring.com/~vic_torino/images/ldfgroup.jpg

Messing up stages since 1999. Troy was in 7 O' Clock Sucker for about 5 minutes and he was in the Grossouts. Todd was also in the Grossouts. Justin and Phil were in the Trans Ams.

Highlights
Early shows were marked with wrecked stages, torn clothing, damaged microphones, shots drank from dirty converse shoes, and personal injury. Some shows literally took the band days to recover from. They dressed up as Boston and covered "Long Time," "Rock and Roll Band," "More than a feeling," "Take A look Ahead" on Halloween 2003 (pictures are available at http://www.dartrecords.com/ldf_halloween.html). The previous year, they appeared on stage in New York Dolls costumes (no covers though).

I would like to apologize for the large amount of beer i would dose the band with, it was funny the first time, not so after twenty or so. Troy would always say stupid shit like, "We need to get crazy tonight!!"

They played at the Vans Warped Tour when the travelling show made it's way to Fargo's version of a "dome."

They like doing obscure and not-so-obscure covers--with one to three songs of each set usually reserved for tunes by some of their favorite bands. Past & present songs you'll hear include the Novas, The Humpers, Dictators, Ramones, Richard Hell, Boston, Dow Jones & The Industrials, The Skinnies, Rolling Stones, Scientists, Misfits, Rezillos, Waylon Jennings, Pagans, Wanda Jackson, etc.
Silly punk rockers from Moorhead. They were the only band that learned their Madonna covers when Phil Leitch first tried to organize Madonnarama in the mid 90s. They acted goofy, sang songs about grocery stores and getting free pizza from Sarah Hassel, made absurd zines (ChickenX, Trans Zine, White Crane Beggar, etc.) and had a lot of fun. For some reason, they really amused Nine Pound Hammer and Hammerhead.
*S/T CD-R on Dart Records (2001) A not-officially-released, post-humous collection of the "Race The Devil" 7" and unrleased demos of the recording session, "Turbo" from the Draggin' Tracks compilation, the South Dakota State song, and additional unreleased demos recorded by Jim Zespy. Includes a full-color cover with photos & liner notes by Ross Kroetch. Only five copies of this exist. I'm surprised that we never put this out, actually. Even with all the mistakes in the unreleased tunes, it's really not too bad.
Played numerous shows in 1998. They dressed up in suits, but the original idea was to wear GI Joe C.O.B.R.A. soldier outfits. That ended up being too much work. They used tons of samples in their songs. Sort of a Man Or Astroman meets The Make Up thing?
* Booked one of the first, if not the first, "punk" show in the FM area in 1984 when he brought in the Vampire Lezbos (WA) to headline a show at the Dilworth Community Center. Locals Blacklisted and The Crowd opened. A video of the show exists although the last time the Vampire Lezbos came to town he mistakingly "borrowed" it to them.
* Published one of Moorhead's first zines called 'Mark and Phil's Guide to Everything' in 1984 which lasted two issues. The title was changed to 'Burnt Toast' and printed three issues, the last of which was printed in Washington, D.C. where Phil lived 1985-1986.
* Was the original guitar player for godheadSilo.
* Created yahtzeen in 1992 and published eleven issues before moving from print to the web.
* Together with Derek Wilde promoted dryhump '98 which aimed to bring together the DJ and punk scenes. Taking place at the now closed First Avenue in Fargo it featured a mix of local DJ's and bands sharing the stage. dryhump '98 also featured an early morning kickball game pitting ravers vs the punks and a later in the day basketball game pitting indie rockers vs brit poppers.
* Produced kate'zine, a zine about Kate Moss, as an offshoot of yahtzeen. Two issues were printed and it lived shortly as a web site afterwards.
* Produced fargogirls.com (defunct) which consisted of one new polaroid a day of a different girl from fargo. As dirty as it sounds like it could have been, it wasn't. The polaroids are now hosted at Flickr.
* Produced duffysjukebox.com (defunct) in an effort to remove the Dave Matthew's Band from the jukebox at Duffy's Tavern in Fargo.
* Created madonnaRama, an annual Valentine's day show featuring local bands performing covers of Madonna songs in a talent show format with style, interpretation and overall judging categories.
* Has possession of the "sticker door" from the now closed Ralph's Corner Bar. Other Ralph's memorabilia purchased at auction are the booth he first asked Jessica out on their first date, three bar stools, two urinals, a bathroom sink, and 12 of the 18 chairs he originally bought...the others have been passed on to others.
*Toured across the US twice (more like 1.5 times, since they went broke & turned around in Illinois on trip #2).
*Remembered for playing a show on August 19, 1995 at the Coffee Club in Moorhead where Phil cut his head open on a stage light & got blood all over the place.
*When Meat Records released Draggin' Tracks compilation, The Trans Ams performed a set consisting of covers of every song/band on the CD in order of appearance at Bill & Aaron's request.
*Performed the South Dakota State Song on the Coolidge 50 compilation because the label could not find a band from South Dakota, apparently.
*From Carothers Brothers #5, "The Definitive Guide to Everything Punk Rock in the Moorhead/Fargo Area": Trans Am - four guys who defied the odds and played Cosmic Ark until their brains froze.
Even with all the mistakes in the unreleased tunes, it's really not too bad.
http://www.mindspring.com/~vic_torino/images/ldfgroup.jpg

Some of my fave memories were when we played jay's keg parties for 3 cosecutive weekends or something like that. The house was packed, it was our first shows and I was so nervous.. but it was so intense, stopping every other song because people were pushing and piling into the basement and falling onto us and we were just laughing.- Rod
About
http://www.mindspring.com/~vic_torino/images/ldfgroup.jpg

Highlights
*Toured across the US twice (more like 1.5 times, since they went broke & turned around in Illinois on trip #2). Remembered for playing a show on August 19, 1995 at the Coffee Club in Moorhead where Phil cut his head open on a stage light & got blood all over the place. When Meat Records released Draggin' Tracks compilation, The Trans Ams performed a set consisting of covers of every song/band on the CD in order of appearance at Bill & Aaron's request. Performed the South Dakota State Song on the Coolidge 50 compilation because the label could not find a band from South Dakota, apparently.

*From Carothers Brothers #5, "The Definitive Guide to Everything Punk Rock in the Moorhead/Fargo Area": Trans Am - four guys who defied the odds and played Cosmic Ark until their brains froze.
About
*Does hellfire, damnation mean anything to you? These guys are a punk/metal tour de force who pioneered this territory long before the Fucking Champs, Tight Bros From Way Back When or similar tongue-in-cheek, metal-infused indie bands came around. Although they've never officially broken up, it seems like they only resurface for the occasional show. Fargo loves them.

*From Carothers Brothers #5, "The Definitive Guide to Everything Punk Rock in the Moorhead/Fargo Area": Orange 17 - you know, if they didn't have short hair I could mistake these boys for Poison.

Highlights
*They opened for Bad Company and Ted Nugent at the Fargodome.
*Seeing JP set his cymbals on fire is a truly magical Fargo rock experience.
*Some kid broke his arm or leg or something at a show at the Bowler.
*When they opened for Zeke, Blind Marky Felchtone was apparently in awe of them.
*They played a version of "Deck The Halls" at a Rock N' Roll Xmas concert where they simply repeated "Don we now our gay apparel" over and over again.
*Played for a long-ass time in Fergus Falls one night back around 1994. Came out in ET masks and rocked downtown Fergus Falls until all the kiddies had to go to bed. Put up with letting Jim Lee of Grammahead ride around in their van.
*You know you've hit the rock'n'roll nail on the head when someone spray-paints your band name on something. I swear I saw something like this near Island Park at one point or another. -ryan
*Didn't they change their name to "Computer" for one or two shows? I thought they did this when they opened for Bakamono at the Coffee Club.
*There are probably too many other highlights to list.

Shows
Some of the best I can remember:

*Early Spring 1994? Elks Club w/ Hammerhead and Godheadsilo - a crazy crazy show.
*September 1994 at the Bowler with Free Jessie and Haul and Pathos. I think that kid broke his arm at this one.
*December 1997 at Rock and Roll Christmas at the Bowler, with a ton of bands, probably the best show I saw them play.
About
*Does hellfire, damnation mean anything to you? These guys are a punk/metal tour de force who pioneered this territory long before the Fucking Champs or similar metal-infused indie bands came around.

S/T Self-released cassette -- If you own one of these $2 cassettes consider yourself lucky. The fidelity is awful but the songs are amazing. You can tell that this came out of a really busy time in the Fargo scene because it is beyond me how these folks had songs this good and are hardly remembered today.
Apparently, the band played some house parties and they had a little person on vocals (names?, dates?, anyone?).
