Kilimanjaro was begun by several MSU individuals in 1990, including Senegalese national Ibrahim Diallo who played keyboards. I know they sometimes jammed with Munib, an Ethiopian bass player. They labeled themselves as a "world beat" band, borrowing from rap, reggae and African sounds.

  • They were scheduled to play Kirby's (their first-ever gig), they canceled and Kirby Kuklenski was pissed. He was only going to pay them $100, but they only had three songs ...and needed more practice. The band later played Kirby's quite a few times, and Detroit Lakes, and elsewhere. They had many dance floors filled up when they played their original songs.
