Highlights
- Back in '95, Dan Johnson reunited some of the guys from the Penguins and put out an album under the name "Morton Zoe". The album's title was "Diaries of an American Dork". The first track on it was a Penguins tune called "A Love Life". I was lucky to see them perform some of their tunes at the Coffee Club that year. I was hoping they'd put out some more albums, but I haven't seen any yet.
- Singer/songwriter Morton Zoe, got his start in his hometown of Fargo , North Dakota . He was the primary writer and front man for the band, Rhythmic Penguins. The band self-released a 7" single and two full length albums. After three years of playing clubs and college venues throughout the Midwest , the Rhythmic Penguins disbanded.
- Morton Zoe relocated to Minneapolis where he continued to write and perform. In 1995 Zoe released Diaries of an American Dork with the Minneapolis label Zeus Records. During this period, Zoe began working with Los Angeles based producer Tim Bomba (Wilco, James Taylor, Rusted Root). Three tracks from the Diaries of an American Dork CD were picked up by NBC for use in the movie Reunion . In 2000 Morton Zoe moved to Los Angeles to write and record for commercial and film projects. In 2003 Morton Zoe returned to Fargo and began performing live with long time friends and band mates, Mark Quenette and Michael Navarro.
