Very energetic and enthusiastic pop-punk/cover band from East Grand Forks, MN. Name was taken from the Grand Forks band, Schmelbys, The, but they are not affiliated and are separate bands.

Highlights
- Brad Larson took drum lessons from Joe Bailey frequently, in the basement of Kenny's Music Shop.
- The death of Monte Zak on August 19, 2004 brought the abrupt end of the band.
- The band Dieana spawned directly from The Shmelbys.
- Name was a spinoff of another Grand Forks band, Schmelbys, The.
Shows
- Final show on August 7, 2004 in Cayuga, ND w/ Proof of the Fall, Five Star Fracture, Dingus, The Station Wagons, 9 Paces West, and Touchwood.
- Was scheduled to play at the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks on August 23, 2004, but cancelled after singer Monte Zak was killed in a car accident.
