Two thirds of the band were in metallic hardcore band Standing Idly By, from 2001 to early 2003, and with the departure of that bands lead singer, they transitioned to the more melodic style of the Diversion Scene. Based partially in Bismarck at first, they eventually all moved to Fargo.
