The Fargo Band Family Tree currently has NUMBEROFARTICLES pages including bands, band members and record labels. The Fargo Band Family Tree is intended to be a mostly non-biased, factual historical reference to the Fargo/Moorhead indie music scene and it's six degrees of separation with other closely related scenes.
We love the Fargo/Moorhead scene and that's our passion. We would love to help others duplicate this effort (not that this is difficult by any means) and work together to standardize and interlink where possible.
The promotion group 'Team Fargo' was ran by Bjorn and his then-girlfriend Amy Hendrickson from 1995 - 1996 or 1997. Team Fargo put on many good local shows and brought in a lot of touring bands. Bjorn also put on the Fugazi Moose Lodge show of 1992 or 1993, I can't remember. Bjorn lives in Minneapolis and probably is involved with design somehow.

Often falling under the nondescript "cowpunk" banner, Anchorhead is really a traditonal country and western band that covers the occasional Pixies song. Sounds similar to Uncle Tupelo, a comparison Todd dislikes.

Christopher Walken Overdrive (also known as CWO) was an alternative metal band designed August 27, 2004 at Foxes in Moorhead, MN by Ryan Haugland, Fred Frenzel and Donovan Stewart. CWO formed around September/October 2004. Ryan Haugland (Sub Rosa), played one show and moved to Lawrence, KS. Patrick Meyers (Snake Handler) replaced him but moved to Austin, TX in the Fall of 2005. James Riccigliano (Unlern) joined as drummer in Spring 2006 and exited the band October 15th, 2007. Aaron Bedford was selected as the new drummer on November 19, 2007. On December 27th lead guitarist Shane Bertrand quit briefly, but rejoined in January, 2008 and played a handful of shows that year until moving to New York. After months of inactivity the group reformed as a quartet, wrote a few new songs and played a couple more gigs. They played their last show ever January 30th, 2009 at the Aquarium.

A virtual "Slipknot" of has-beens & never-beens, formed from side projects of many different bands in Grand Forks in 2003. Can be considered a "phantom band" of sorts because they only played two actual shows, neither of which were anywhere near the Red River Valley.
Highlights
*Band name was conceived (as a joke).
*Very ridiculous band-logo featuring a nutria (otter-like rodent) eating.
*At one point, the band consisted of 10 people, but was narrowed down to seven because of likenesses to a small mob.
*Directly influenced the song "Ripoff" by Small Town Drunk, hence the name.
*Wrote song called "Chernobyl" which lasted anywhere from five to fifteen minutes, but was never played the same way twice. (written featuring Mark Bauer on drums.)

Shows
*First live show, August 1, 2003 Rudies Ska Cafe St. Paul, MN 7pm w/ Small Town Drunk

A virtual "Slipknot" of has-beens & never-beens, formed from side projects of many different bands in Grand Forks in 2003. Can be considered a "phantom band" of sorts because they only played two actual shows, neither of which were anywhere near the Red River Valley.

Members
*Dave Collins (vocals)
*Donovan Stewart (guitar)
*Eric Hills (bass, vocals)
*Joe Bailey (drums)
*Lorenzo Serna (vocals)
*Mike Sutehall (guitar)
*Cory Wolf (vocals)

High Plains Reader 8.25.05
Metals a bitch; a stubborn, rigid creature that occasionally reproduces and spawns varying sub sects, but dangles the possibility for creative interpretation above its practitioners like its taunting a gorilla with a banana. Some artists have strong enough calf muscles to make the jump; the rest either say,"To hell with it!" and stay where they are during the duration of their career, or travel even lower downt he slope as if running from the big, bad originality goblin (cough...Slipknot...cough).

The Thing about Necktie Suicide is that they have legs like wallabies. "Bearing Witness to the Fall of Rome"--the bands debut EP--is a five-song operetta of men leaping through the air, and tearing apart an empire when they touch back down. A treatise on war, culture, and misinformation that ties it all together, "Rome" is like attending a dinner with a brain trust and watching the room explode into fisticuffs. Havoc isnt the point; its frustration that can no longer be kept quiet, and vitriol with a doctorate.

Its also wonderfully manic music. Everything comes in layers (the guitars alone on "Apologies Made Without Response" are stacked like skyscrapers), as if someone just relieved themselves all over Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound."

"Rome" cuts, changes, and ducks under the cover of night before you are sure of what you have just seen. Singer A.j Anderson delivers each song with the right amount of brutality as the remaning four members of this metal mob march through other great cuts like "Someone" and "Shotgun Divorce Settlement."
Like Poison the Well without a Swedish production team, or Thursday finally becoming too pissed for emo to hold them any longer, Necktie Suicide is why you should never give up on heavy music, even when it seems like heavy music has given up on you.

Fargo Forum
If you think a name like Necktie Suicide sounds harsh, listen to the Fargo group’s new EP, “Bearing Witness to the Fall of Rome.†The opener, “Apologies Made without a Response†features more screams than a slaughterhouse, while tracks like “Shiver†and “Blindfold†pound out hooks like a heavy-weight grudge match. The five-song CD isn’t for everyone, but in 25 minutes the quintet crunches out a polished bit of heavy metal. John Lamb Fargo Forum
