One of Bubba's "traditional" punk bands, The Hateyous were also known as Railed and Defiant. The majorty of their live shows were held in basements that smelled of beer and cat feces. Some would argue the latter is what The Hateyous sounded like.
Starship Reducer released a self released bootleg, "Live Juice" and confused several with their Falco meets The Pointer Sisters sound.

Originally known as the unfortunately named Mothertruckin', Marpas Apram were musically influenced by psychadelic and classic/hard rock of the mid 1960's to early 1970's. Marpas Apram played numerous shows with old amps, practiced in the basement of Ralphs Bar, and drank more then their weight in beer.
The band is currently on hiatus as the band members have relocated to Crosby, ND, the Pacific Northwest and Northern California.

*7 o’clock Sucker debuted in the spring of 1994, opening for Minneapolis based Arcwelder and Gods Favorite Band at the old Elks Lodge on First Avenue. Allegedly named after a never attempted home brew, the band began as five piece with members hailing from Milnor, Dickinson, and Minot, North Dakota. Troy and his obsequious baseball cap were dropped after their first public appearance (the band had played several shows in their basement, aka the 700 Club), and 7 o’clock Sucker continued as a three piece for 3-4 years before disbanding with a self released seven-inch.

Marked by an energetically charismatic stage presence, 7 o’clock Sucker played pop punk similar to Jawbreaker and Face to Face; later, their style of music evolved into a more hardcore sound, reflective of their changing influences.

7 o’clock Sucker played countless basement shows and the members were quietly responsible for introducing Fargo/Moorhead to numerous bands that were under the radar of the stereotypical F/M scenester; the height of the 700 Club included: Propagandhi, Defiance, The Pist, and Schlong, among others.

Add notes/comments to any discussions on this page. From time to time I, or whoever feels the page has gotten overcommented, will condense discussions down to a consesus view. The purpose of this page is to toss out ideas and to document current best practices for the FBFT (though that seems like it should exist on it's own page...we'll have to figure that out).

Kid Jonny Lang et al
Someone posted something asking whether or not Jonny Lang should be added. Unless you're really set on adding him to the FBFT, I don't think it's worth the effort. Jonny Lang may have been a Fargo musician, but I don't think he really fits the bill for the FBFT. FBFT has slowly developed to cover primarily rock music of the independent variety in genres ranging from punk to metal to indie to screamo to even some hippie/folksy stuff. It seems to me that despite his origin, he was never really even involved with the music in these "scenes" no matter how wide we cast our nets.

Re:above - While I have no more love for Johnny Lang than anyone else and would rather he not be included, in the interest of maintaining a professional air about this, and following the rather loose rules set forth [a band or musician, from this area], shouldn't a page be made for him anyway? This is supposed to be a collectively maintained, accurate database of Fargo/Moorhead musicians, not just "Fargo/Moorhead musicians that I like." Besides, stuff like this [how much he sucks] could be dealt with in the discussion tab of the page.

Presumptuous there, no? While whoever wrote the opening screed is questioning the 'talent' of mr. lang in a veiled manner (and, for the matter, "even some hippie/folksy stuff"), I do not believe the philosophy of not including mr. lang has anything to do wtih musical taste (beacause there are countless listings for bands chad james was a part of, and you know, they all sucked). The larger implication there is that Mr. Lang contributed little to a local scene, then again, I noticed a page for the replacements, so really, I don't understand any of this.
Thank you
First off, thank you for visiting the FBFT and (hopefully) taking part in its growth. Sitting here and looking over it (mind you we're only up to L as I write this), I'm floored at the number of bands (125+ counting in the 90s alone) and the depth of all of it. We've seen many, if not most of these bands, but I don't think any of us were aware of how massive this actually is... hell, who would've thunk that Chad James wasn't the only person to have played in 40 million bands? It's massive folks!
About
*7 o'clock Sucker was the house band of the 700 Club at 700 College Street in Fargo. They played punk rock that seemed to fall somewhere between pop-punk and hardcore. They played many drunken shows in Fargo basements as well as just about every other venue in Fargo/Moorhead.

*Troy Reisenauer played in the band just long enough to get teased by Carothers Brothers. He later caught the last train to Dickinson, ND where he was rumored to be selling canned vegetables, door to door.

*In an interview with Carothers Brothers, the band says that the name came from the homebrew that they intended to brew, "once Kyle gets the damn kit."

*From Carothers Brothers #5, "The Definitive Guide to Everything Punk Rock in the Moorhead/Fargo Area": 7 O'clock Sucker - 4 guys who make up the best band and put on the best show... well they should, they've been playing the same songs for the past three years.
Beyond the Threshold was a big fucking prank conceived sometime in the winter of 1994/1995 with the help of some half-frozen Killian's, a typewriter and some crappy band playing at Ralph's corner. With the help of the two jerks from Carothers Brothers, goXfargoXgo, Beyond the Threshold and the whole joke began. That first night, goofy straight-edge notes were typed up, doused and beer and frozen to the cars of Fargo scenesters outside of Ralph's. Goofier fliers followed with plans of having super-secret basement straight-edge shows and bringing Earth Crisis to town along with goXfargoXgo's house band, Beyond the Threshold (which, oddly enough, is a Husker Du song). Some people understood the joke and the fellas had all but given up on it until the Peasant Boy "outed" us in his silly zine. Unfortunately, at that point, the joke had been over for quite some time. Go figure.

---

The idea for a sXe band is credited to Cory Docken and Brent Jensen, the former expressed, albeit briefly, a desire to assemble a three piece and play with ski masks, somewhere. I am guilty of running with the joke. My Struggle was the original name, which I believe Cory suggested, though given the obvious parallels to Hitler, we thought better.

Re: the secret fm sXe society: The original fliers were meant to be a joke on a few friends who were of legal age and failed to buy beer for us that night as they were at Ralphs drinking, and on that night, Ralphs was not letting in minors. Someone thought it funny, and so it began with the intention of seeing how over the top and ridiculous one could be and still believed. This was easy because the scene was starting to become a parody of itself (and by scene I mean however one defined punk rock in the mid 90's, not exactly Fargo, though I assume one could make an argument), which is easy to note 10 years after the fact.
