As far as I remember, MadonnaRama was the brain child of Phil Leitch. It was a show in which all the bands were required to perform Madonna cover songs. It was also a contest of sorts. The winner received a variety of prizes including various Madonna records (vinyl of course) and various gift certificates to local establishments.

The Women broke up as so many young college groups do, and Clay, Neil, and Danforth wanted to explore their love of partying and punk rock music. Andy Martinson was willing to help, and the Scrodonauts were formed. Though they originally only planned to play a few parties, the Scrodonauts played for a couple years around Fargo and had a good deal of fun in the process.

Winning a battle of the bands at 1st Ave to get the chance to open for Green Day at the Civic Center. Green Day cancelled the show but Andy got in fight with Billy Joe.*

*Andy did not exactly get into a fight Billy Joe directly. He innocently inquired about a Screeching Weasel button on Billy's jacket. Apparently this was a sensitive issue for old Billy at the time, and he yelled at him. This prompted Billy Joe's very large "friend" (bodyguard?) to pin Andy against the wall by his neck. Billy felt bad and called off his large associate. The Green Day singer apologized to Andy, but the fuckers never re-scheduled the show.

* The Chris Danforths performed a memorable set to close the 2nd Fargo Winter Carnival at the Fargo Theatre.
* The Chris Danforths played at the final show at Eclipse Records in St. Paul. This performance featured the band performing behind a large white screen upon which a live feed of the band was being projected mixed with miscellaneous clips from old home movies and found footage. At one point in the show, the front screen dropped to reveal the band and images were still projected on a large screen behind the band. Balloons fell from the ceiling. This was the most ambitious Danforths performance to date.

Back around 1995 or maybe '96, an MSU student named Steve Blondo had an idea, form a ska band in Fargo/Moorhead. This was a fairly daunting task,considering the local music scene was predominantly heavy rock bands that reflected the "Fargo-noise" sound. He began by assembling a group of friends from the Fargo/Moorhead scene. This original version of the band performed for almost a year before most of the founding members left to do other things. Blondo pushed forward and did some unprecidented, he recruited MSU music students. The band, now revitalized with music majors, quickly rose to fame in the FM scene and the local college circut. But alas, eventually the monster Blondo had created got the best of him. Blondo was eventually axed by his music major cronnies. Three Minute Hero went on to do just exactly what one would expect from a music major band, play a lot of covers and release an album with an anal reference.

Tom Kemmer, Neil Fasen, and Eric Kjer relocated from Fargo / Moorhead to St. Paul, met up with Chris Danforth, and formed Small Mouth Projects. It was to be an ambitious project combining a variety of different mediums and ideas. Alas, it proved too much for the boys, who had trouble adapted their drinking habits to function in the big cities. Small Mouth Projects played only a few shows but produced a ton of stickers that still adorn the walls of the some local twin cities clubs.

An odd Surf/Spy band. Al was on upright bass and Elliot was on trombone so that gave it a kind of unique sound. The members would usually mix and drink Bloody Marys on stage. Tape loops and sound collages were utilized as was en vogue at the time.

An odd Surf/Spy band. Al was on upright bass and Elliot was on trombone so that gave it a kind of unique sound. The members would usually mix and drink Bloody Marys on stage. Tape loops and sound collages were utilized as was en vogue at the time.
